Meet Ray
Ray Steib has been a Solo Practitioner in Jefferson Parish since 1986, with a general civil practice. He has handled cases in the areas of Family Law, Bankruptcy, Wills and Estates, Personal Injury and Criminal Law.
Ray Steib is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Louisiana. He has argued cases before the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal, the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal, the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, the Louisiana Supreme Court and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ray Steib received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Loyola University, New Orleans, Louisiana, May, 1979 and his Juris Doctor Degree from Loyola Law School in 1982.
He describes his practice as, “Helping Little People with Big Problems.” Ray has handled just about every type of case that a Judge on the 24th JDC might anticipate presiding over.
Ray is married to Tish Steib, with whom he has two children, Jack, age 11 and Sydney, age 13, who attend Christian Brothers School and Cabrini High School, in New Orleans, LA.
Ray Steib is very active in the State and Local Bar Associations.
He is 2003 Past President of the Jefferson Bar Association, where he continues to stay active.
As a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association he has served 10 years on the Professionalism and Quality of Life Committee and 3 years on the Access to Justice Committee. He represents Jefferson Parish as a member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association. He is currently serving his second term on the Nominating Committee.
He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association Solo Practitioner's & Small Firms Section, Civil Law and Litigation Section, Bankruptcy Law Section, and Family Law Practice Section Bill of Rights Section and Computer Section.
Additionally, Ray serves on the Board of the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Association 2007-2008, the board of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, 2000-Present, where he served as President from 2004-2006.
In 2004, Ray assisted in founding the John C. Boutall, American Inn of Court in Jefferson Parish, where he currently holds the office of the president.
Ray is a volunteer with the Pro Bono Project where he handles bankruptcy cases and speaks on the topic of personal bankruptcy. Ray has also been a presenter for the Professionalism hour of CLE for the New Orleans Bar Association on a number of occasions.
With the Professionalism and Quality of Life Committee Ray has been a regular with the Professionalism Orientation for incoming first year law students at both Loyola and Tulane Law Schools, as well the recently added third year professionalism program.
He is a member of the St. Pius Men’s Club, Christian Brothers Men's Club, and Cabrini Dad's Club.
He is a member of the Pelican State Pachyderm Club.
